Please include a source of proof (newspaper, yearbook, etc.) to support your claim. ![]() Tue, Feb 18, 2025 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Hockey stings Yellowjackets Posted: Friday, January 26, 2007 SUPERIOR - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team scored the first three goals of the game and never looked back as the Blugolds defeated fourth-ranked and conference-leading UW-Superior 3-1 here today at Wessman Arena. The win improves the Blugolds to 9-7-2 overall and 3-4-2 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) action. The Yellowjackets fall to 14-3-0 and 6-2-0 in the NCHA. The Blugolds are 6-1-1 in January featuring wins over nationally-ranked UW-Superior and UW-Stevens Point. The win over Superior marks just the third time Eau Claire has defeated the Yellowjackets and the first time since a 5-1 victory on February 27, 2005. The win marked the Blugolds first-ever win at Wessman Arena. The Blugolds jumped on the Yellowjackets early as Lauren Havard (So.-San Angelo, TX/Arapahoe) scored the game's first goal at 3:39 of the first period assisted by Allie Campbell (Sr.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) and Michelle Stohr (Fr.-South St. Paul, MN) to take a 1-0 lead. Stohr continued to be active in the offensive third scoring the game's second goal at 8:08 of the third period assisted by Magan Wurdelman (Fr.-Sauk Rapids, MN/Sauk Rapids-Rice) to push the lead to 2-0. Tara Hayner (Sr.-Stillwater, MN) continued the Blugold scoring spree scoring the game's lone power play assisted by Beth Dittrich (Fr.-Roseville, MN) to give Eau Claire a 3-0 lead. The Yellowjackets scored their lone goal at 0:35 of the third period but were unable to score again despite outshooting the Blugolds 29-15 for the game. Mikaela Jobman (Fr.-St. Paul, MN/Cretin Derham Hall) was stellar between the pipes saving 28-of-29 shots faced. The Blugold defense stymied the Yellowjacket power play as Superior went 0-for-7 for the evening. The Blugolds conclude weekend play tomorrow when they travel to Hancock, Michigan to take on Finlandia University. Face-off is scheduled for 3:00 P.M. - KM - |
