The Blugolds are back at .500 with a 2-2-0 record while the Blazers drop to 0-3-0. Eau Claire is now 3-0-0 all-time versus St. Benedict. Down 1-0 after a Blazer goal that occurred about five minutes before the first intermission, the Blugolds responded quickly in the second with an even-handed strike just 1:01 into the period. Lauren Havard (So.-San Angelo, TX/Arapahoe) took the assist from Margaret Campbell (So.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) and put it in the net to tie it up. Eau Claire took the lead at 11:07 in the third on a power play. This time Havard supplied the assist while Beth Dittrich (Fr.-Roseville, MN) made the goal. The Blugolds held St. Benedict to three shots in the period and kept the lead to pick up the win. The game had all of three penalties, with St. Benedict having two of them. The second Blazer penalty, a high sticking call, cost them as it led to the winning Dittrich goal. It was the only cashed in advantage of the game for either team. Eau Claire outshot St. Benedict 35-to-12 with 16 Blugold shots coming in the third period alone. Bri Lutz (Fr.-Burnsville, MN) stood in goal for Eau Claire and picked up 11 saves along with the win. Next weekend will feature two games against seventh-ranked Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) foe UW-River Falls. Friday's game is at River Falls while Saturday's is in Eau Claire.
