2011 Volleyball Athletes of the Week

October 24, 2011-October 30, 2011

Laura Slinger, MH/RH, 5-10, Senior, Faribault, Minn./Bethlehem Academy
Slinger contributed in every statistical category en route to a 3-0 week for the Blugolds and a share of their second consecutive WIAC title. In addition to a 13-kill, .417 performance Wednesday against UMAC co-champion Northwestern College, Slinger had 10 kills with no errors against UW-La Crosse on Friday and 16 kills and five block assists against UW-Platteville on Saturday. For the week, Slinger led the Blugolds in kills (39) and blocks (11).

October 17, 2011-October 23, 2011

Liz Amici, Middle Hitter, 6-1, Senior, Whitewater, Wis.
Playing in 12 sets this week as the Blugolds competed in five matches, Amici led the team with 42 kills and had a hitting percentage of .476 while also leading the team with 18 blocks. Against UW-River Falls on Wednesday in a 3-1 win, Amici had a match and career-high 18 kills. She also led the Blugolds against Lincoln Christian (Ill.) with 12 kills at the Slagell Classic hosted by Millikin University. Competing in three out of four matches at the tournament, the Blugolds came away with four 3-0 victories and pushed their winning streak to eight matches. She was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts.

October 10, 2011-October 16, 2011

Liz Amici, Middle Hitter, 6-1, Senior, Whitewater, Wis.
Amici helped the Blugolds to a 3-0 victory Wednesday against conference opponent UW-Superior. In the match, she had 13 kills in 20 attempts, a .600 hitting percentage. She also came away with one solo block and a block assist.

October 3, 2011-October 9, 2011

Emily Neave, Setter, 5-7, Junior, Salem, Wis./Westosha Central
Neave helped the Blugolds to a 3-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh on Saturday. She finished with 37 of the team's 40 set assists to lead the match and also had four digs and two kills in two attempts. Neave also finished with a match-high two service aces.

September 26, 2011-October 2, 2011

Laura Slinger, MH/RH, 5-10, Senior, Faribault, Minn./Bethlehem Academy
Slinger led the Blugolds in kills this weekend as the team split at the Wartburg Knights Classic. Playing in four matches and 15 sets, she finished with 47 kills and a hitting percentage of .384. Slinger had no fewer than nine kills in the four matches, finishing in double-figures three times. She also had 11 digs, 11 block assists and two service aces.

September 19, 2011-September 25, 2011

Liz Amici, Middle Hitter, 6-1, Senior, Whitewater, Wis.
With the Blugolds going 2-1 this week in conference matches, Amici played in 11 sets. She led the Blugolds with 28 kills and a hitting percentage of .312. She also led the team with 13 blocks (four solo and nine assists) and came away with six digs. She finished with no fewer than eight kills in each match and reached double-figures once. Against UW-Whitewater on Saturday, she had eight kills in 11 attempts for a hitting percentage of .636.

September 12, 2011-September 18, 2011

Liz Amici, Middle Hitter, 6-1, Senior, Whitewater, Wis.
Amici led the Blugolds this weekend with 41 kills on her way to being named to the All-Tournament team at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational. Playing 15 sets, she finished with a .283 hitting percentage and led the team with 18 blocks. As a team, the Blugolds split over the weekend, winning the first two matches and falling in the next two.

September 5, 2011-September 11, 2011

Liz Amici, Middle Hitter, 6-1, Senior, Whitewater, Wis.
Playing six matches and 24 sets this week, Amici helped the Blugolds to a 3-3 record. She finished the week leading the team with 65 kills and a hitting percentage of .338. She also had 19 blocks, second most on the team. Amici led the Blugolds in kills in two matches and tallied no fewer than nine kills in each of her six matches.

August 29, 2011-September 4, 2011

Kelly Schuh, Outside Hitter, 5-10, Sophomore, Appleton, Wis./Hortonville
Schuh competed in four matches and 16 sets for the Blugolds this weekend at the UW-Eau Claire Labor Day Classic. She finished with a total of 37 kills in the four matches to lead the team and had 34 digs, the second-highest total for the Blugolds. In two matches, she led the Blugolds in kills while she had double-digit kill totals in three matches.
