2011 Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

Track: Kim Miresse, Junior, Waukesha, Wis./North
At the Saint Mary's Open this weekend, Miresse reached a provisional qualifying mark in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.95 seconds as she won the event by more than a half-second. She was also part of a 4x100-meter relay team that took first place with a provisional qualifying time of 48.42.
Field: Julia Baranek, Junior, Port Washington, Wis.
Baranek competed well this weekend at the Saint Mary's Open as she recorded two second-place finishes. She had a distance of 1.61 meters (5-03.25) in the high jump and a leap of 11.17 meters (36-07.75) in the triple jump.

Track: Ashlyn Mauer, Sophomore, Sheboygan Falls, Wis.
Mauer won the 5,000-meter run this weekend at the Winona State University Easter Invitational. She finished more than a minute ahead of the rest of the field with a time of 17:36.52, less than two seconds away from an NCAA provisional qualifying time.

Field: Brittany Frederick, Junior, Green Bay, Wis./Preble
Frederick represented the Blugolds this weekend at the Division I Dave Rankin Invitational hosted by Purdue University. Saturday, she took third in the discus throw, automatically qualifying for the NCAA Championships with a mark of 46.76 meters (153-05) for third place. Frederick placed fourth in the hammer throw competition with an attempt of 51.30 meters (168-04), a provisional qualifying mark. She was also eighth in the shot put.

Track: Ashlyn Mauer, Sophomore, Sheboygan Falls, Wis.
This weekend at the UW-Platteville Open, Mauer took first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Her time of 10:53.18 led the 13-runner field by more than 30 seconds while the mark was an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time.

This weekend at the Wartburg Select, where the Blugolds finished in fifth place, Miresse won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.75 seconds. Her mark was an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time.
Field: Brittany Frederick, Junior, Green Bay, Wis./Preble
Frederick picked up wins in both the hammer throw and discus throw this weekend at the Wartburg Select, where the Blugolds finished in fifth place. She finished with a distance of 44.84 meters (147-01) in the discus and 51.10 meters (167-08) in the hammer throw. Both were NCAA Division III provisional qualifying marks. Frederick also took third in the shot put.
