2011-12 Basketball Athletes of the Week

February 6, 2012-February 12, 2012

Dustin Kalien, Forward, 6-5, 190, Junior, Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chi-Hi
Kalien recorded a career-high 23 points as the Blugolds battled UW-Stout in overtime Saturday. While the Blugolds fell just short, 67-66, Kalien scored 18 of his 23 points from beyond the arc, where he went 6-for-10. He also finished the game tying with a team-high four rebounds.

January 16, 2012-January 22, 2012

Jordan Petersen, Guard, 6-2, 185, Junior, Strum, Wis./Eleva-Strum
Averaging 14 points in two games last week, Petersen helped the Blugolds to two wins. Wednesday against Finlandia University (Mich.), which the Blugolds beat 95-82, Petersen scored eight points and pulled down six rebounds while also coming away with a game-high seven assists. In a 67-58 win over UW-La Crosse on Saturday, Petersen led the game with 20 points as he went 9-for-9 from the free throw line and 5-for-8 from the field. He also grabbed five rebounds and had five assists. For the week, he also had three steals.

January 9, 2012-January 15, 2012

Nick Craggs, Forward, 6-6, 200, Junior, Kimberly, Wis.
In two games this week, Craggs helped the Blugolds split wins, defeating UW-Oshkosh 79-67 Wednesday before falling 88-76 to UW-River Falls on Saturday. In the game Wednesday, Craggs scored a career and game-high 26 points. He finished 11-for-12 from the floor, including going 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. He also led the Blugolds with six rebounds. On Saturday, Craggs scored 10 points and pulled down four rebounds. For the week, he also had two steals and two assists.

January 2, 2012-January 8, 2012

Dustin Kalien, Forward, 6-5, 190, Junior, Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chi-Hi
This week, Kalien helped the Blugolds split against conference opponents. On Wednesday in a 55-45 win over UW-Stout, Kalien started the game and pulled down two rebounds while coming away with two assists. Saturday against UW-Stevens Point, while the Blugolds lost 85-74, they stuck with the Pointers almost the entire way. In that game, Kalien led the Blugolds with 16 points and seven rebounds. He also had two assists and a steal.

December 26, 2011-January 1, 2012

Jordan Petersen, Guard, 6-2, 185, Junior, Strum, Wis./Eleva-Strum
Petersen played a crucial role in helping the Blugolds win the 43rd Annual UW-Eau Claire Holiday Classic last week. In the championship game Friday, he scored a career-high 32 points as the Blugolds beat Simpson College (Iowa) 90-78. At one point, Petersen was 6-for-6 from beyond the arc and finished 6-for-7. He also had two assists, two rebounds and a steal. The night before, in an 81-64 win over Judson University (Ill.), he scored 10 points and had five assists, one rebound and one steal.

December 5, 2011-December 11, 2011

Jordan Petersen, Guard, 6-2, 185, Junior, Strum, Wis./Eleva-Strum
Petersen led the Blugolds in scoring in one out of two games as the Blugolds split wins against conference opponents. In Wednesday's 73-63 victory over UW-Platteville, Petersen led the Blugolds with six assists while he pulled down six rebounds and scored 11 points, going 5-for-5 from the free throw line. Saturday against UW-Whitewater, the Blugolds came up just short 68-59, but Petersen led the team with 20 points. He also had four steals, four rebounds and two assists.

November 28, 2011-December 4, 2011

Jordan Petersen, Guard, 6-2, 185, Junior, Strum, Wis./Eleva-Strum
Petersen led the Blugolds in rebounding this weekend in their conference opener at UW-La Crosse. He finished with eight boards, which was also a game-high, and added nine points, playing 36 minutes. Petersen also had a game-high four assists.

November 21, 2011-November 27, 2011

Nick Craggs, Forward, 6-6, 200, Junior, Kimberly, Wis.
Craggs helped the Blugolds to a 3-0 record this week as he led the team in scoring in two out of the three games. In a 77-75 win over Hamline University (Minn.) on Tuesday, he had a team-high 20 points while he led the Blugolds on Saturday with 19 points in a 75-67 win over Saint Mary's University (Minn.). He had 12 points, the second most on the team, Friday in a 67-62 win over Rockford College (Ill.). For the week, he averaged 17 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. Craggs also had three assists and two steals and went 13-for-18 (72.2 percent) from the free throw line.

November 14, 2011-November 20, 2011

Jordan Petersen, Guard, 6-2, 185, Junior, Strum, Wis./Eleva-Strum
In three games last week, Petersen helped the Blugolds to a 2-1 record. He led the team in scoring twice and rebounding once. In the Blugolds' season-opener, a 63-41 win over St. Scholastica on Tuesday, he had a team-best 11 points while pulling down six rebounds. Friday, while the Blugolds fell just short 54-52 to North Park, Petersen had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Saturday in a 68-62 come from behind win over Concordia (Wis.), he led the Blugolds with 15 points while pulling down seven rebounds. For the week, he averaged 12.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, both team-high marks, while he had four steals, two assists and one block.
