2010-11 Basketball Athletes of the Week

February 14, 2011-February 20, 2011

Amadou Fofana, Inside, 6-7, Senior, Appleton, Wis./West
Fofana closed out his career with the Blugolds, starting in two games this week. Facing Superior on Wednesday, he scored two points and two rebounds. On Saturday against Stout, Fofana had six points and pulled down five rebounds. In that game, he was 4-for-4 from the free throw line. For the week, he also had two assists, one block and one steal. Fofana finished his career with 784 total points and 266 rebounds, playing in 88 games.

February 7, 2011-February 13, 2011

Fofana led the Blugolds in scoring last week but the Blugolds couldn't come away with wins in either of their two games. Against Stevens Point on Wednesday, the Blugolds stuck right with the Pointers for nearly three-quarters of the game, but ended up falling 83-70. In that game, Fofana had 16 points, second most on the team while tying for a team-high five rebounds. At Whitewater on Saturday, the Blugolds fell 85-68 but Fofana led the Blugolds with 18 points. He had just one rebound in that game but came away with two assists and a steal. For the week he scored 34 points, shooting 16-for-26 (61.5 percent) from the floor, and had six rebounds, three assists and a steal.

January 10, 2011-January 16, 2011

Marcus Ruh, Outside, 6-3, 180, Sophomore, Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port
In three games this week, the Blugolds went 2-1, starting the week with a 72-51 win over Finlandia University (Mich.) on Monday and then defeating UW-Superior 76-71 in overtime on Wednesday. On Saturday, the Blugolds fell 74-62 to UW-Whitewater. In Monday's game, Ruh helped spark the Blugolds, scoring eight points as they went on a 10-0 run to take an eight-point lead. He finished with a game-high 16 points in that contest while also pulling down five rebounds and picking up six assists and a steal. For the week, playing 100 minutes, he shot .541 (20-for-37) from the floor and scored 45 points. He also had 15 rebounds, 12 assists and five steals.

December 20, 2010-January 2, 2011

Amadou Fofana, Inside, 6-7, 270, Senior, Appleton, Wis./West
In three games last week, Fofana went 19-for-31 (61.3 percent) from the field and scored 52 points while the Blugolds won once and lost twice, with one of the losses coming by one point. In a 72-52 victory over Monmouth College (Ill.) on Dec. 29, Fofana scored 10 points while pulling down four rebounds and recording one block. The next day, the Blugolds fell 69-58 to Northwestern College (Minn.) to finish as the runner-up at the 42nd UW-Eau Claire Holiday Classic. In that game, Fofana scored 17 points and pulled down seven rebounds. On Jan. 2, Eau Claire fell just short to Stout, 88-87, but Fofana finished with 25 points and seven rebounds. He went 7-for-10 from the field and 10-for-14 from the free throw line. For the week he had six blocks and three assists and was 13-for-19 from the free throw line (68.4 percent).

December 6, 2010-December 12, 2010

Marcus Ruh, Outside, 6-3, 180, Sophomore, Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port
Ruh scored a game-high 18 points Wednesday against UW-River Falls but the Blugolds fell short 75-51. The 18 points tied for his third best total this year. He also finished with a game-high three assists and had two rebounds and a steal.

November 29, 2010-December 5, 2010

Amadou Fofana, Inside, 6-7, 270, Senior, Appleton, Wis./West
Fofana helped lead the Blugolds this week as the team opened WIAC play with two wins. In Wednesday's conference opener against UW-Oshkosh, the Blugolds were down at the half but outscored the Titans 27-4 over the final 10 minutes and 40 seconds to win the game 66-53. In that game, Fofana finished with 13 points and three rebounds, along with an assist and block. In Saturday's 77-70 win over UW-La Crosse, Fofana scored 19 points while pulling down seven rebounds, tying a team-high. He shot 13-for-16 from the floor for the week.

November 22, 2010-November 28, 2010

Amadou Fofana, Inside, 6-7, 270, Senior, Appleton, Wis./West
Fofana scored a career-high 25 points Saturday as the Blugolds came away with a 90-62 victory over Silver Lake College at the UW-Oshkosh Classic. He led all scorers in the game as he went 10-for-11 from the floor and 5-for-8 from the free throw line while also pulling down six rebounds and coming up with three assists. On Friday at the Oshkosh Classic he scored five points while grabbing five rebounds in a 61-48 loss to Milwaukee School or Engineering.

November 15, 2010-November 21, 2010

Amadou Fofana, Inside, 6-7, 270, Senior, Appleton, Wis./West
Fofana helped the Blugolds to a 2-1 record to open the season this week. In Monday's season and home-opener against St. Scholastica, Fofana had 12 points, going 8-for-8 from the free throw line, a mark that ties for seventh best in school archives. He also had a game-high seven rebounds as the Blugolds beat the Saints 77-64, improving to a 13-0 all-time record against St. Scholastica. The Blugolds were at the UW-Platteville Classic this weekend, and fell just short to ranked opponent Washington University (Mo.) 62-57 Friday before defeating Clarke University (Iowa) 84-63 Saturday. Friday, Fofana had eight points and four rebounds along with a team-high three assists while he led Saturday's game with 20 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. He was named to the All-Tournament team at the conclusion of the classic.
